Charlie's Fund

Suffering pets don't know that their owners are poor, or have lost a job, or are buried
under huge medical bills they cannot possibly hope to pay. The pets just know that they
hurt, and that they need help. Their sad, vulnerable eyes beg for relief, for some gentle
compassion from someone, anyone, who can ease the pain.

Charlie's Fund is a separate non-profit corporation that uses donations to help pay
for pets' medical bills. That is all it is. It is a simple scheme put in place for a wonderful
purpose. It can work and work well, with help from generous hearts like yours.

The size of the gift makes no difference at all - it's the willingness to help that lasts
and lasts. That willingness is a warm out-flowing of love from the best place within us,
a love mirrored in the precious eyes of the innocent creatures your donations will
help.

The gifts roll on and on into the future, benefiting those who receive and, perhaps
even more, those who give. Thanks so much for caring, and for helping.

Their owner's eyes often beg for help as well. We see solid, hard working folks here all
of the time who struggle to pay the rent and put food on the table for themselves and
their families, usually through no fault of their own. They love their pets deeply and
dearly, yet have no money at all to spare. If you don't have twenty dollars in your pocket
to spend on dinner for your kids how can you possibly find a thousand or more to fix a
suffering puppy's broken leg?

Charlie's Fund can do something simple and direct about that suffering - something
that works, something that helps. It's a loving answer to a desperate plea that arises
from deep within creatures in pain, and tugs at an equally deep place within hearts that
care.

Those of us who are a little more fortunate can answer this simple prayer for the
gentle, priceless gifts of aid and comfort. It feels good to do that. It feels wonderful, in
fact. It feels….right.

The mechanics of the giving through Charlie's Fund are simple. The hospital itself
pays a portion of the bill that is determined by need, and Charlie's Fund kicks in a
matching amount. You can send donations to Horse Cart, and the money will be put
