WHAT'S IN OUR NAME??
The name comes from the saying, "Don't Put the Cart Before the Horse," meaning keep your priorities straight. What that means in a practical sense is that when we walk into an exam room to say hello, our focus is on doing our best to help your pet. Their welfare comes first, period. Everything else is secondary to making the critters feel better, to finding some way to help.
What we have found is that by putting the welfare of the animal and the owner always first, and letting the economic details work themselves out later in a cooperative spirit of compassion, kindness and responsibility, things turn out just fine. And all involved feel wonderful about the whole process, because caring and giving feel very good and very right. They are at the center of everything that gives hope and meaning to our lives.
The answer to those questions is very simple. Our number one priority is to provide high quality care to all or nearly all of the owners and animals who come to us asking for help.
In cases of financial need, we first look after the pets to the very best of our abilities, then we work closely together with the owner to pay for services. We keep our own prices low for those in need, we are trusted by several relief agencies who provide financial assistance, our own Charlie's Fund can help, and we offer various forms of deferred payment for those who qualify.
Basically, we try to take the financial worry out of bringing a sick or injured pet to the veterinarian just as much as is humanly possible.
Sunny got help from Charlie's Fund and two relief agencies, and his painful root abscess is all better!!!
